Tulare County HHSA Reports

In 2003, Tulare County embarked on an ambitious Crystal Reports program that included the use of Crystal Enterprise to deliver reports both internally and externally throughout the county. One requirement for the CE application was integration into the existing county intranet. Due to the large and very mixed audience, another main goal was to minimize the cost of launching the application and training the end users.

The original application was designed in CE v8.5 using CSP and the COM SDK. It was a fully custom application designed to provide a very intuitive interface while limiting the functionality available to the end user. This was done to bring the new users along slowly and avoid the intimidation of a more complicated interface. In 2004 the application was upgraded to CE v9 and scheduling features were added for the end users. In 2005 the application was converted to CE v10 using the .NET SDK, and even more functionality was added, including a new interface to take advantage of the CE "Favorites" feature.
